Phil is a native of Le Mars, Iowa (Ice Cream Capitol of the World!). He has been a lobbyist for over a decade and has two decades of experience working in political campaigns, public affairs and public relations, and legislative lobbying. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Central College in Pella, Iowa.
Phil served as Director of Government Relations for the Iowa Medical Society and for the Iowa Association of School Boards. Before that, he worked for a public relations firm in Des Moines and on two presidential campaigns in Iowa and Florida. Phil not only has strong political connections in Iowa, but also in Washington, D.C. where he worked for a U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley.
Phil is a graduate of the Association of Business and Industry's Leadership Iowa program. He enjoys serving his community as a City of Waukee Board of Appeals Board Member and volunteers with the Iowa Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Foundation.
Phil is an avid fly-fisherman and hunter. He is a member of Trout Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He resides in the Des Moines metro area with his wife and two children.
