TANKER DETERMINATION

In a historic decision, on February 29, the Air Force awarded up to $35 billion to EADS and Northrup Grumman for the purchase of the mid air refueling Tanker project, KC 45. The aircraft will use the General Electric CF6-80E1 propulsion system.

The Boeing Company has not yet determined how they will respond. However, former Republican presidential hopeful, Rep. Duncan Hunter, has noted that the Air Force decision costs the U.S. more than 100,000 jobs. “This is a blow and a disservice to the American defense industrial base so vital to our national security interests.”
